The Role of Compassion Focused Therapy in Challenging Food Rules and Rigidity
January 29 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am PST

Join Alison Beckman, MS, RD, LD, CEDS-S, for a webinar on “The Role of Compassion Focused Therapy in Challenging Food Rules and Rigidity.” The webinar begins Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 9:00 AM PT/ 11:00 AM CT/ 12:00 PM ET. We are offering 1 CE hour through APA, CDR, and NBCC for live attendance.
Abstract:
Food rules—often rigid guidelines about eating—are a common challenge in the treatment of eating disorders, significantly affecting individuals’ relationships with food and their overall well-being. This presentation explores how Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) can be strategically employed to address and dismantle these restrictive food rules.
By providing an in-depth look at how CFT principles can be used, providers can help clients challenge and reframe their harmful food rules, fostering self-compassion and reducing the emotional distress associated with eating behaviors. Attendees will gain practical insights into incorporating CFT techniques into their practice to support clients in developing a more flexible and compassionate approach to food.
Objectives:
– Understand the psychological and emotional impact of food rules
– Apply Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) principles to challenge and reframe food rules
