In addition to in-person options, virtual only eating disorder treatment programs may be available in Delaware to those who would prefer to receive help remotely or to those who may have difficulty accessing a treatment center. Virtual programs are completed entirely online—therapy sessions are conducted remotely, vitals are tracked and sent to your clinical team, and some programs even provide pre-prepared meals directly to your Delaware residence.
If you qualify for an intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization program but can’t find a center in DE that is convenient and suited to your needs, a virtual program may be the best option.
Virtual Eating Disorder Treatment
In-person treatment for eating disorders is an excellent option for many patients, but it's not always accessible to everyone. Some patients have challenges around transportation or mobility, don't live near a treatment center, or struggle with other co-occurring conditions that make it difficult to leave the house. In these cases, virtual eating disorder treatment may be a helpful choice.
These programs have become increasingly popular over the years, with eating disorder specialists working hard to ensure that virtual programs can be just as effective as in-person care in most cases.1 Virtual programs don't just connect you to Delaware eating disorder therapists and dietitians; they also open up possibilities to connect with medical staff and patients from all over the country.
Additional Delaware Eating Disorder Resources
In Delaware, eating disorder therapists and dietitians aren't the only places to find help with eating disorder recovery. The state's Medicaid Behavioral Health Services can offer additional help for certain residents, including certain types of therapy, referrals to nutrition counseling or other specialized care, and different types of mental health support.
For all residents, the Delaware Department of Health can also be of assistance. The state department offers general health services and may have additional educational materials, information, and help with coordinating care.
Finding the Best Delaware Eating Disorder Therapists & Dietitians for You
Finding the best mental health professionals to work with you or a loved one can feel like a daunting task. If you're feeling overwhelmed by choosing the best eating disorder dietitians and specialists, you may find more clarity by asking a few questions:2
- What is your experience, and how long have you treated eating disorders?
- Do you treat co-occurring mental health conditions?
- What type of criteria do you use to evaluate progress or determine if treatment is working?
- Will you work with my workplace/school? If so, how?
- Do you involve family members or friends in treatment?
Finding the right kind of help may feel impossible, but remember always to keep hope. Eating disorders treated with the right kind of care can always be overcome.
