Treatment Programs for Adults
Day Programs
The Emily Program – Columbus offers partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs for adults that provide regular, structured group and individual programming throughout the week.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an all-day treatment program that is often the next step after residential care or a starting point for those who need more than non-intensive outpatient services to build healthy living skills. Clients typically spend a minimum of 30 hours a week in a PHP program either in our facilities or in a virtual environment.
Programming includes structured therapeutic meals, behavior exposure groups, and experiential challenges. During your treatment, you’ll meet with your therapist, dietitian, and other medical professionals. Psychiatric assessment, medication management, and medical monitoring may also be part of your partial hospitalization program.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) focuses on recovery and relapse prevention for those in need of more structure and support than non-intensive outpatient treatment. Clients typically spend 4 days/week, 3 hours/day in programming either in our facilities or in a virtual environment. Group-based intervention and therapeutic meals provide enhanced therapeutic support and symptom interruption.
The Emily Program now offers CARE IOP, an intensive outpatient program for adults with binge eating disorder or OSFED with a pattern of binge eating. This telehealth virtual program addresses the unique treatment needs of those affected by binge eating or compulsive overeating, honoring clients’ identities and experiences in informed, inclusive, and intersectional care. Clients typically spend 4 days/week, 3 hours/day in virtual programming along with individual therapy and nutrition counseling.
Outpatient Sessions
We also offer outpatient treatment, which may include individual or group therapy. Some of our clients begin their treatment journey in outpatient sessions and others step down to outpatient care from day treatment. To learn more and review our catalog of treatment options, visit our website.
Treatment Programs for Adolescents and Children
No two teenagers or kids are alike. Neither are their eating disorders. Our therapists, dietitians, and medical team are experts when it comes to helping adolescents – and their families – gain control over eating disorders by building a strong sense of self and other skills needed on the road to a whole and healthy adulthood.
We know that active involvement of the family is crucial to recovery. To promote recovery, we create a unique treatment plan to meet each individual’s needs, incorporating the family in every aspect. We offer multiple comprehensive care levels so adolescents and children can get the care they need when they need it.

Day Programs
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an all-day treatment program that is often the next step after residential care or a starting point for those who need more than non-intensive outpatient services to build healthy living skills. Your child will spend 5 days/week, 6 hours/day, plus school, studying, or tutoring hours, in treatment either in our facilities or in a virtual environment. Programming includes structured therapeutic meals, behavior exposure groups, and experiential challenges.
We are excited to now offer a Virtual Adolescent Saturday Program at our Columbus location! This extension of our Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Programs is designed for clients and families participating in intensive outpatient treatment at The Emily Program. The aim of Saturday programming is to increase support, provide psychoeducation, and give clients the opportunity to practice recovery skills in their own homes.
During treatment, your child will meet with a therapist, dietitian, and other medical professionals. Psychiatric assessment, medication management, and medical monitoring may also be part of your partial hospitalization program. In addition to one-on-one therapy, many of our programs for adolescents are based on the Maudsley Approach, which recognizes the importance of family involvement in the treatment of eating disorders.
PHP is one of the best options for young clients needing the most symptom-reduction attention and staff support while still living at home.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) focuses on recovery and relapse prevention for adolescents in need of more structure and support than non-intensive outpatient treatment. Your child will spend 4 days/week, 3 hours/day in programming, either in our facilities or in a virtual environment, with weekly family participation. Group-based intervention and therapeutic meals provide enhanced therapeutic support and symptom interruption.
Outpatient Sessions
