Our multidisciplinary treatment teams aim to equip individuals, families, and communities with the skills necessary to continue recovery in the home environment. We have decades of experience managing the unique medical and psychiatric complications of eating disorders. Our medical team is at the forefront of best practices in eating disorder treatment, providing specialty care that includes medical management of interruption of eating disorder symptoms and related medical complications, medication recommendations, support, and accountability.
We understand the tangled complexities of eating disorders, often from personal experience. We know recovery is possible.
The Emily Program – Cleveland offers comprehensive treatment with multiple levels of care, including adult residential and PHP, IOP and OP services for adolescents and adults. We offer both in-person and virtual treatment options for our PHP, IOP and outpatient services. Learn more about virtual treatment here.

Treatment Programs for Adults
The Emily Program – Cleveland Residential, located in a comfortable, home-like setting in a safe residential neighborhood in Cleveland Heights, OH offers evidence-based care for those in need of highly structured, intensive eating disorder treatment. We seamlessly integrate 24-hour supervised care and medical monitoring to help our clients change their eating disorder behaviors and develop skills that support a whole, joyful life. The 16-bed residential treatment facility serves adults of all genders struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and related problems.
The structured and supportive care we offer in our residential programs combines the clinical expertise of our experienced staff with evidence-based therapies, incorporating psychological, nutritional, medical, psychiatric, and integrative interventions in a comprehensive approach.
Treatment is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Individual treatment plans meet each resident’s needs and typically include:
- Onsite 24/7 nursing supervision and medical monitoring
- Onsite therapists, physicians, dietitians, and other professional staff
- Individual, group, and family therapy
- Integrative intervention, such as yoga or art therapy
- Support for co-occurring disorders
- Therapeutic meals and snacks with nutrition counseling and education
- Onsite laundry facilities, WiFi, and common area
- Family education and support
- Seamless transition to partial hospitalization program/intensive day program or intensive outpatient program
The Emily Program – Cleveland offers partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs for adults that provide regular, structured group and individual programming throughout the week.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an all-day treatment program that is often the next step after residential care or a starting point for those who need more than non-intensive outpatient services to build healthy living skills. Clients typically spend a minimum of 30 hours a week in a PHP program either in our facilities or in a virtual environment.
Programming includes structured therapeutic meals, behavior exposure groups, and experiential challenges. During your treatment, you’ll meet with your therapist, dietitian, and other medical professionals. Psychiatric assessment, medication management, and medical monitoring may also be part of your intensive day/partial hospitalization program.
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) focuses on recovery and relapse prevention for those in need of more structure and support than non-intensive outpatient treatment. Clients typically spend 4 days/week, 3 hours/day in programming either in our facilities or in a virtual environment. Group-based intervention and therapeutic meals provide enhanced therapeutic support and symptom interruption.
The Emily Program now offers CARE IOP, an intensive outpatient program for adults with binge eating disorder or OSFED with a pattern of binge eating. This virtual program addresses the unique treatment needs of those affected by binge eating or compulsive overeating, honoring clients’ identities and experiences in informed, inclusive, and intersectional care. Clients typically spend 4 days/week, 3 hours/day in virtual programming along with individual therapy and nutrition counseling.
We also offer outpatient treatment, which may include individual or group therapy. Some of our clients begin their treatment journey in outpatient sessions and others step down to outpatient care from day treatment. To learn more and review our catalog of treatment options, visit our website.
Lodging for Adults in Intensive Day Programming
The Emily Program – Cleveland offers lodging for adult clients (18+) of all genders who require intensive day programming (IDP/PHP), but live a distance from treatment. Lodging is a great place to:
- Practice real-life recovery skills in a peer-supported, non-therapeutic setting
- Enjoy a safe, charming residential area near public transportation, restaurants, and shopping
- Reflect and rest at the end of the day
Treatment Programs for Adolescents and Children
No two teenagers or kids are alike. Neither are their eating disorders. Our therapists, dietitians, and medical team are experts when it comes to helping adolescents – and their families – gain control over eating disorders by building a strong sense of self and other skills needed on the road to a whole and healthy adulthood.
We know that active involvement of the family is crucial to recovery. To promote recovery, we create a unique treatment plan to meet each individual’s needs, incorporating the family in every aspect. We offer multiple comprehensive care levels so adolescents and children can get the care they need when they need it.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an all-day treatment program that is often the next step after residential care or a starting point for those who need more than non-intensive outpatient services to build healthy living skills. Your child will spend 5 days/week, 6 hours/day, plus school, studying, or tutoring hours, in treatment either in our facilities or in a virtual environment. Programming includes structured therapeutic meals, behavior exposure groups, and experiential challenges.
During treatment, your child will meet with a therapist, dietitian, and other medical professionals. Psychiatric assessment, medication management, and medical monitoring may also be part of your intensive day/partial hospitalization program. In addition to one-on-one therapy, many of our programs for adolescents are based on the Maudsley Approach, which recognizes the importance of family involvement in the treatment of eating disorders.
PHP is one of the best options for young clients needing the most symptom-reduction attention and staff support while still living at home.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) focuses on recovery and relapse prevention for adolescents in need of more structure and support than non-intensive outpatient treatment. Your child will spend 4 days/week, 3 hours/day in programming, either in our facilities or in a virtual environment, with weekly family participation. Group-based intervention and therapeutic meals provide enhanced therapeutic support and symptom interruption.
The Emily Program – Cleveland offers outpatient treatment for adolescents, which may include individual or group therapy. Our outpatient sessions are designed to address the unique needs of adolescents. Your child may begin their treatment journey in outpatient sessions or may step down to outpatient care from day treatment.
