Levels of Care

LIFE building located at Remuda Ranch at The MeadowaA talented multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals manages the treatment process, and includes a psychiatric specialist, medical physician, registered dietitian, CEDS, licensed therapists, a recreational therapist, and caring 24/7 nursing staff. This team is on constant watch to provide exceptional individualized care.

Critical Care/Inpatient

Our Critical Care/Inpatient level of care provides a safe and non-institutional environment for healing. Patients receive excellent medical care and counseling services with a focus on nutritional rehabilitation and medical stabilization. We are also uniquely able to provide detox services when needed.

Residential Treatment

The Meadows Ranch offers a spacious home-like environment allowing residents the freedom to enjoy healthy outdoor living. The goal of our program is to disempower the eating disorder by uncovering the complex psychological factors contributing to the patient’s unhealthy relationship with food. Our staff have meals with the patients to monitor eating patterns, food intake, and their thinking patterns. Through the conversations at meals, patients learn to develop eating patterns that are normal in time, manner, and content.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Depending on the acuity of the eating disorder, some patients may begin recovery in our partial hospitalization program; others will use it as a gentle transition from residential treatment to everyday life. Here the staff helps patients develop and practice recovery skills in a supportive environment combined with real life experiences.

Our Approach to Recovery

The Meadows RanchOur evidence-based treatment approach is designed to uncover and understand the “whys” of an eating disorder, with an underlying focus on resolution. We implement a developmental-resiliency model with a trauma-informed treatment approach, similar to our sister program, The Meadows.

Individualized treatment plans are developed to meet a patient’s unique needs and may include a variety of evidenced-based modalities, such as:

  • Psychodrama
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
  • Mindfulness
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • CODA

Growth and Empowerment

The Meadows Ranch KitchenAt The Meadows Ranch, we rely upon experiential modalities for the best learning environment, and apply an integrated model founded on the principles of ERP and DBT for sustained recovery. Our goal is to resolve the patient’s malnutrition and enhance her coping strategies for success by identifying the complex psychological factors contributing to her unhealthy relationship with food.

We focus on culinary skills development, with an emphasis on nutrition. We believe this hands-on approach is a necessary ingredient for building confidence over the eating disorder and for success following discharge.

Patients can participate in a number of experiential activities that are designed to complement the
recovery process, including:

  • Expressive Arts Therapy
  • Equine Assisted Therapy and Horsemanship
  • Movement Therapy
  • Challenge Course Exercises

Family Focus

Eating disorders affect the entire family system. Understandably, we embrace family members even before admission, as their involvement is crucial to the recovery process. Our family therapy is presented from a skills-based approach throughout the program, including a 5 day/35 hour Family Week. This is a time of learning, growth, change, and forgiveness for everyone, and ensures that the transition back to daily life is successful.
