Logan, UT, 84321Virtual Eating Disorder Treatment
While there are eating disorder recovery centers located across the state, especially in and around the Salt Lake City region, these programs aren't the only option for Utah residents seeking help. Virtual eating disorder programs are another great way to access care, especially for those who live far from in-person clinics or who have concerns around transportation or mobility.
Providing all aspects of standard in-person care—including individual and group therapy sessions, nutrition counseling, and other treatment methods—these programs are just as comprehensive, and have been found to alleviate eating disorder symptoms just as well as in-person treatment in many cases.2 And with schedules that are generally more flexible than in-person facilities, virtual care can also make eating disorder treatment more convenient for all patients.
Additional Eating Disorder Help in Utah
If you or a loved one is struggling with eating disorder behaviors but isn't sure where to start looking for help, some state agencies may be able to point you in the right direction.
The Utah Department of Health offers general information on the conditions, including educational materials and additional resources for seeking help. They can also assist with care coordination or referrals for nearby treatment centers.
If you qualify for Utah's Medicaid program, you may also be able to access help from that program's behavioral health services. This program offers coverage for mental health care related to some eating disorders, including therapy sessions and medical evaluations, and may even assist with treatment for related conditions, such as post-traumatic stress disorder or obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
Finding the Best Utah Eating Disorder Centers for You
When treating eating disorders, a supportive community is key to a lasting recovery. It may be helpful to research the Utah eating disorder centers near you to determine which one best fits your needs and priorities.
Some considerations to keep in mind include:
- Whether the center has the appropriate level of care for you or your loved one, including residential treatment, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, outpatient services
- The types of treatments available, including individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and other types of care
- Any philosophical, spiritual, or religious teachings the center may practice
- How the center measures progress toward recovery, or determines when a patient is healthy enough to leave
However, regardless of where you start your healing journey, the most important thing is to get started. It's often the first step toward a future that feels healthier, happier, and more stable.
