Massachusetts Eating Disorders Treatment Centers

Eating Disorder Hope has compiled a directory of eating disorders treatment centers in Massachusetts.

Locating the right eating disorder treatment center can be a life-changing decision for someone struggling with anorexia nervosa, bulimia, or binge eating disorders. A well-planned treatment program supported by an experienced treatment team and on-site medical supervision can make the difference between a continuing struggle and the start of recovery.

Conduct your own research into the eating disorder clinic or treatment center that best fits your specific circumstances. Some families find that a treatment center out of state may be best suited for their loved one. Carefully investigate all of your eating disorder treatment options.

Cambridge Eating Disorder Center

CEDC’s mission is to provide a comprehensive continuum of high quality, specialized services in a community setting to individuals suffering from eating disorders. Our philosophy is that eating disorders are multi-dimensional problems caused by a combination of factors such as an individual’s characterological components, physiological issues, difficult family and interpersonal relationships, and societal pressures. Eating disorders are also conceptualized as serving an adaptive function for the individual. As a result, our treatment programs focus not only on reducing the eating disorder symptoms but also on understanding their development and function. We aim to promote the development of a healthy self that encompasses both emotional and physical well-being. Our programs include; Residential, Partial Hospital, Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient Services. New in 2013 will be a Transitional Living facility located in Cambridge. We also offer weekly and monthly support groups. Please visit our website for further details.

Walden Behavioral Care – Waltham, Worcester, Braintree, Northampton, MA

Walden Behavioral Care is one of the first eating disorder programs in the country to offer a continuum of care including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment programs for adults, adolescents, males, and females with eating disorders.

To determine which level of care meets an individual’s current medical and emotional needs, an initial clinical assessment is performed. After the assessment is completed, patients are referred to the appropriate level of care and assigned a treatment team including a case manager, nurse and physician. This team of experts designs a comprehensive treatment plan to meet the individual’s medical, nutritional, behavioral, and psychiatric needs. Throughout treatment, patients are continuously monitored and treatment is adjusted to meet their needs. While many patients advance through the continuum, some patients will need to move from a lower level of care to a higher level of care to accommodate their current needs.
