Natalie Breitmeyer, MA, LPC, R-DMT, RYT – Yoga Therapist for Timberline Knolls

Natalie Breitmeyer, MA, LPC, R-DMT, RYT is currently working as a licensed professional counselor, dance/movement therapist, and yoga specialist for Timberline Knolls in Lemont, Illinois. She received her MA in Counseling and Dance/Movement Therapy from Columbia College Chicago and trained as a yoga teacher with Yogaview Chicago. Natalie is a faculty member at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s Lou Conte Dance Studio where she teaches yoga and modern dance. Natalie engages with clients from a humanistic, culturally and trauma-informed lens, and incorporates somatic psychology, yoga philosophy, play therapy, and creative arts therapies into her clinical counseling work. Prior to becoming a counselor, Natalie worked as a freelance dance and theater artist in Chicago and Seattle. She received her BFA in Theater with an emphasis in playwriting and directing from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.

Movement of Recovery

Description: This presentation will focus on a review of a four-week curriculum focused on incorporating movement in eating disorder treatment. A registered dietitian and movement therapist will review ways each discipline can collaborate for the benefit of appropriate movement with those who struggle with eating disorders. The presenters will review exchange and fluid recommendations for movement, mindfulness and body awareness, movement as a tool and values associated with movement.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify ways to incorporate movement into eating disorder treatment
  2. Increase understanding of collaboration between a registered dietitian and a movement therapist in ED treatment
  3. Review impacts of movement on mental health
