Katie Rickel

As a consulting expert to the Dr. Oz Show, Katie came to Structure House in 2008 as a post-doctoral fellow, where she designed and implemented two new treatment services (the Pain Coping Skills Training program and the Interpersonal Support Training program) as well as participating on an interdisciplinary team to develop the Bridge Program for binge and emotional overeating. Katie provides individual and couples therapy on campus, conducts telephone and web-based individual and group therapy with participants after they have returned home, teaches classes on motivational issues, social support, and mindful eating, and facilitates support groups.
Katie graduated summa cum laude from Duke University with her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Florida. He completed a clinical internship in Health Psychology at Duke University Medical Center, and her research has been presented at various professional conferences and published in scientific journals.
