Juliet Cáceres, PsyD, CEDS is the Director of Spiritual Services at Timberline Knolls and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Eating Disorders Specialist with more than 25 years of practice. She currently serves at Timberline Knolls as the Clinical Director of Spiritual Care leading clinical integration of spirituality as core to the Timberline Knolls’ recovery program.

Prior to her current role, Dr. Cáceres served the Director of Clinical Operations where she provided leadership and management of the clinical system to ensure the highest quality residential clinical services. Dr. Cáceres earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL.

Her clinical research interests center on understanding shame dynamics in trauma recovery and interpersonal dynamics, the integration of spirituality in therapy and the healing journey towards wholeness.

“Food and Faith: Integrating Christian Spirituality into the Treatment of Eating and Co-occurring Disorders”

Description: This presentation will provide an understanding of the research linking spirituality and religion to purpose and identity as a means of improving body satisfaction and the relationship with food. Participants will recognize how Christian concepts can reinforce principles of intuitive eating and body satisfaction, and apply strategies to integrate Christian principles of spirituality into therapeutic groups and meals.

Participants will learn to apply ideas and concepts integrating religion from a Christian perspective to their work with eating disorders as therapists and dietitians. In addition, participants will gain an understanding of the food and faith program being utilized in The Grace Program at Timberline Knolls.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the recent data linking spirituality and perspectives of religion to positive outcomes in body satisfaction and eating disorders and co-occurring disorders.
  2. Recognize how Christian principles can reinforce the principles of intuitive eating and body satisfaction and co-occurring disorders.
  3. Apply strategies to integrate Christian principles into eating disorder therapeutic groups and meals.
