Alsana Free Educational Webinar – Recommendations for the Progression of Exercise in Eating Disorder Treatment
June 2 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am PDT
Details: Free Educational Webinar Presented by Brian Cook. Ph.D. of Alsana
Exercise remains a complex and persistent problem in many individuals with eating disorders. Recent evidence suggests that therapeutic management of exercise behavior is possible.
However, specific guidance on exactly how to introduce and progress with a therapeutic exercise program remains controversial. This talk will clarify such controversies by reviewing several recent advancements in clinical and research work that has guided the safe inclusion of exercise in eating disorders treatment.
Accordingly, a brief background about relevant aspects of factors related to including exercise in ED treatment will be reviewed. Next, definitional clarity of several key terms that implicitly and explicitly guide clinical approaches of managing exercise will be reviewed.
Finally, the majority of the talk will focus on translating evidence-based protocols for the inclusion of exercise in eating disorders treatment. Specific guidance on how to progress with frequency, intensity, time, and type of exercise will be provided.
Discussion and examples for factors specific to anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and exercise addiction will be provided.
We are offering 1.5 CE hours through APA, CDR, NASW, and NBCC for live attendance.
