Online CE Event: Process Based Therapy: The Future is Now in Mental Health Treatment

Presented by: Nicole Siegfried, PhD, CEDS

There are currently over 500 different psychotherapies. Most practitioners describe themselves as integrative or eclectic and espouse to treat the individual or the human behind the disorder. However, to date there has not been a way to integrate treatment modalities in a unified and systematic way based on the needs of the client. Process Based Therapy (PBT) is a META approach and overarching framework that can be used in conjunction with all types of psychotherapy, to improve both the effectiveness of treatment, as well as the practitioner’s skills. In this workshop attendees will learn the basis of PBT, how to apply a PBT framework in assessment and case conceptualization, and most importantly how to improve their practice in treating eating disorders and other mental health disorders utilizing PBT. Case studies and video-taped transcripts will be included to provide attendees with real-life applications of PBT. Attendees will leave the workshop with improved competence and bolstered hope.

Objectives:

1. Define the need for Process Based Therapy based on the failures of past mental health treatments

2. Describe assessment and case conceptualization utilizing a PBT framework

3. Apply PBT interventions with confidence and competence
