Focus Treatment Centers Hosts National Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2021 Community Drive-by Event
February 24 @ 9:00 am - February 25 @ 12:00 pm PST

Details: Focus Treatment Centers invites the public to celebrate National Eating Disorders Awareness Week by participating in a drive-by event on Wednesday, February 24th between 11 am – 2 pm at 7429 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Drivers can drive by and honk for eating disorders awareness and can drive through the parking lot to receive educational materials and a body positivity sticker.
The goal of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (#NEDAwareness) is to shine the spotlight on eating disorders by educating the public, spreading a message of hope, and putting lifesaving resources into the hands of those in need.
Eating disorders are biologically based mental illnesses that affect an estimated 30 million Americans of all ages, genders, socio-economic statuses, and ethnicities. If left untreated, eating disorders frequently result in costly medical complications and may result in death. Individuals who have access to and receive appropriate care often fully recover and go on to lead productive lives. Yet the vast majority of individuals suffering from eating disorders do not receive the care they need. For this reason, eating disorder advocacy and education are crucial.
