The Eating Disorders Treatment Center at River Oaks Hospital

Front of BuildingThe Eating Disorders Treatment Center at River Oaks Hospital, located minutes outside of New Orleans, Louisiana, has provided inpatient care and partial hospitalization treatment for over twenty years for those dealing with anorexia and bulimia. The structure of our program and the eclectic approach of a multidisciplinary team are two of the greatest resources to help patients achieve their goals for a healthier and safer life.

Our team consists of:  psychiatrist, internist, individual therapist, family therapist, expressive therapist, nutritionist and nursing. Each member of this team plays a crucial role in treating the disease process and are here to offer assistance 24 hours a day.  Our small program capacity allows for a comfortable experience for our patients working on recovery.

We are fortunate to be able to treat both males and females beginning at age 13. Although we are one of the few inpatient treatment centers in the Gulf Coast, the majority of our patients travel from across the United States and Canada for admission to our program. Those who are a part of our inpatient unit can expect and average length of stay of anywhere between 25 and 40 days.

Gathering RoomFor those patients who have made progress in our inpatient setting yet still need support from our team, we offer a partial hospitalization program. This gives patients the ability to transition out of inpatient care in the evenings while maintain support from our team during the day.

The Eating Disorders Treatment Center is contracted with a variety of insurance plans to help reach as many patients and families as possible. Among the private insurance plans that we work with, we are one of the few programs in the country that accept Medicare and Tricare for this type of specialized service.
