Treatment Modalities

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy – Many of the clients who come to Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders for help arrive with not only an eating disorder, but also with co-occurring PTSD, borderline personality disorder, and other disorders that benefit from EMDR therapy. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy that emphasizes disturbing memories as the cause of psychopathology and alleviates the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

DRosewood_4ialectical Behavior Therapy – Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is one of the many modalities that the Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders uses to help clients learn how to manage difficult emotions in a non-destructive manner. DBT combines standard cognitive-behavioral techniques for emotion regulation and reality-testing with concepts of distress tolerance, acceptance, and mindfulness. DBT therapy is found to be particularly helpful for those who struggle with Borderline Personality Disorder, which is a disorder that we see in many eating disorder clients.

Nutrition Services: Meal / Nutrition Planning, Mindful Eating Group – At the Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders, we believe that “Food is the Best Medicine,” which is why our Registered Dietitians (RDs) work closely with our clinicians, psychiatrists and physicians to ensure the best patient care. During the initial stage of treatment, our registered dietitians provide a comprehensive nutrition evaluation that assesses a client’s history and relationship with food, the progression of a client’s eating disorder behaviors and any medical complications or dietary allergies/intolerances. With this information the registered dietitian is then able to design a customized meal plan for each resident.

Rosewood_3Psychodrama – Psychodrama is a creative therapeutic method that employs guided dramatic action and role-playing to explore and confront problems. It is an effective form of eating disorders therapy because acting out scenes that personify these problems provides patients with a semi-tangible means for understanding their underlying emotions. The Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders’ psychodrama program is led by the internationally recognized psychodrama trainer and expert, Hunter Taylor. Hunter oversees and trains all the Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders’ staff involved in this profound treatment modality.
