General Expectations

  • Serve as an integral member of the treatment team at Cedar Springs Austin by providing individual, group and family therapy; care management services; and maintaining constant communication with patient’s outpatient referral team.

Job Accountabilities

  • Keep accurate record of time worked by clocking in and out daily on time tracking system.
  • Effective and ongoing communication within Cedar Springs Austin via intranet, e-mail, patient charting and verbal conversation.
  • Responsible for checking and responding to internal e-mail daily and on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for answering, checking and responding to company phone calls and voicemails on a regular and daily basis.
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions, including wrap-around visits, with patients as assigned.
  • Participate in weekly patient staffing meetings.
  • Utilize standardized treatment plans and assignments and document patient’s individual progress.
  • Contact and establish communication preference with patient’s outpatient therapist during patient’s first week of treatment and maintain ongoing communication until discharge.
  • Provide weekly meal support as scheduled.
  • Participate in intake assessments as assigned and schedule a one hour block each day in medical records database for assessment availability two weeks in advance. (If assessment is not assigned, this time can be used for administrative duties).
  • Support case manager by participating in utilization, and peer to peer, reviews as needed.
  • Maintain communication with direct care staff regarding specific patient needs.
  • Document all level of care changes in medical records database.
  • Complete patient chart notes following each session/group.
  • Complete weekly staffing forms prior to patient staffing.
  • Completes continuing education required to maintain compliance with state licensure requirements.
  • Complies with the Company’s policies and procedures, including Human Resources, HIPPA and the code of ethics established by the appropriate licensing board.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct, concern, support, respect and compassion toward all patients, families, co-workers and the public as a representative of Cedar Springs Austin.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize and complete assignments.
  • Promote and model a healthy lifestyle.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in administrative on-call as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Masters in human services or behavioral services field.
  • Mental Health Certificate/license. (LPC, LMFT, LCDC, LMSW, LCSW)
  • Experience working with adults, adolescents and eating disorders.
  • Experience in cognitive, expressive or psycho educational therapies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Crisis intervention and problem solving skills.

This position is a full-time (clinical fixed term) faculty member who will be involved with both clinical and research activities of the UNC Eating Disorders Program. Clinical responsibilities include providing treatment and program development in the inpatient, partial hospital program, and outpatient settings. Experience with individual and family therapy essential, with CBT or DBT experience preferred. Candidates with strong records of scholarly activity and research funding are preferred. Research responsibilities include grant writing, supervision of trainee research projects, and active contribution to the UNC Eating Disorders research program.
