At Metro Behavioral Health Associates, we specialize in the treatment of all forms of eating disorders through individual, group and family therapy, nutritional counseling, medical monitoring, family education, peer group support and specifically targeted IOP's or Intensive Outpatient Programs. Our treatment approach provides education, support and practical feedback to help patients understand and resolve long-standing behavior patterns, habits and coping skills that have simply become too emotionally and physically expensive. In part by becoming more sensitive and compassionate with oneself, patients can learn to identify new ways of coping without also negatively affecting their bodies and/or important relationships. We utilize a psychodynamic approach, as well as cognitive and behavioral techniques and tools to help patients build both insight and a range of practicable skills that will help them understand and resolve long-standing destructive behavior patterns, habits and coping skills.
We maintain affiliation and membership with prestigious organizations including The National Eating Disorders Assoc. (NEDA), The Academy for Eating Disorders (AED), The Binge Eating Disorder Association (BEDA), The American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA), The Eating Disorders Coalition (EDC) and The National Association of Social Work (NASW). Our office hours are as flexible as possible and include evenings (and most Saturdays only in Scarsdale). While we do not participate in managed care networks, we will provide itemized statements for those who wish to submit for out-of-network benefits. We also offer reduced fees on a case by case basis.

Harmony Place at St. Joseph’s Villa is an 8-bed adolescent eating disorders residential program offering comprehensive treatment to boys and girls (age 12-18) struggling with an eating disorder.
The first adolescent residential program in New York State is led by a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals including nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical therapists, dietitians and physicians.
The program offers at least 20 group therapies per teen per week with an additional 8 hours of individual and family therapies. Therapeutic sessions use empirically-based approaches to focus on client needs.
Families are vital components in adolescent recovery plans. From admission through discharge, we work with families to develop recovery plans with their health care professionals. While the program focuses on the interruption and stabilization of the child’s eating disorder symptoms, family members will experience hands-on,family-based therapy sessions to learn about eating disorders and recovery at home.
